Have you given up many times because of your shyness? Have you ever lost opportunities because you were simply afraid to ask? About 80% of us would probably answer “yes” as a study shows. However, this fear of attracting attention can be healed by having a strong will and by understanding that it is impossible to succeed without the other’s help.
A shy person can be seen by others as boring, unfriendly or weak so why not change your attitude to prove them that you can be a great friend and a valuable workmate? Get out of your shell!
1. It might be hard at first but try to change your way of thinking into a positive one. Be relaxed and even if someone makes you feel uncomfortable try to start a conversation. Once this step is made, the rest of it is piece of cake. You should also tell yourself that the others are not waiting for you to make a mistake. You are definitely not surrounded by enemies!
2. You should also concentrate on your qualities and try to improve your self-esteem Learn a foreign language or take part to a sport competition. It is a good way of attracting attention and the others’ admiration too.
3. Focus on the others instead of yourself. Stop thinking about how nervous you are. No one is expecting you to be glamorous, hilarious or perfect in anything you say or do. Just be yourself!
4. Practice as much as possible. Modern technology offers you endless possibilities to communicate and to state your opinions without any pressure at all, so why not give it a try? The Internet can be the solution!
It is not even hard to become the one you have always wanted to be! So take advantage of every opportunity you come across!
